Porsche 959 active damper controller repair service
The 959 active damper controller adjusts the damping rate of the Bilstein dampers via adjustment motors mounted to the top of each damper. Sensors in the motor assemblies provide feedback to the controller confirming the adjustment position. The controller takes input from the driver via dashboard controls and vehicle speed.
Note that the 959 has a separate control unit for the hydraulic suspension height adjustment (see our other listing for this unit).
Fault symptoms include warning indicator on the dash (should be off shortly after driving from a standstill), failure to adjust one or more dampers. Note that it's very common for the damper adjustment pins to seize. Remove the damper adjustment motors and check that these pins can be rotated.
