Porsche 911 (1983 - 1989) blower motor controller/relay repair service
The blower control unit contains 2 relays. A 25A relay is responsible for switching power to the main blower motor, located on the engine. A smaller relay powers the auxiliary motors for the footwell ducts. The unit uses temperature sensors and heater control settings to determine fan operation.
The most common faults are loss of function of the main blower motor and/or the auxiliary motors. Note that if the main blower motor is not operating / drawing operational current the auxiliary motors will not operate. Ensure that all motors are not seized and operate freely.
